Hey Guys,

I mentioned I can get discount ski wear so heres the link:

http://www.whiterockoutdoor.co.uk/

Because its a wholesaler it doesnt put the prices up but I have them all infront of me in a booklet.

Mens Jackets are £52.00 to £68.00
Mens trousers are £24.00 to £39.00

So yea, have a look and tell me what you like and I can tell you exact price.

Dont bother looking at the head gear as you have to buy that in bulk. :P

P.S. We should probably book the glasgow snowdome lessons at some point?

:)

Sooooooooooo,

Phoned up the place and paid our deposits.

The names down are as follows:

Mr Robert Cook
Ms M Carr
Mr S Milne
Mr S Collier
Mr S Crawford
Mr A McMichael

Please tell me STRAIGHT AWAY if you name differs from this than on your passport. (as in first name starts with that innitial and surname spelt correctly).

Our flight times are as follows: (still to be fully confirmed though)

13-Jan-2008
Departs: Gatwick 08:15
Arrives: Toulouse 11:05

20-Jan-2008
Departs: Toulouse 12:05
Arrives: Gatwick 12:40

This brings up one major point, we have to fly down to London the night before as there are no flights that arrive that early.
However, I have spoken to my mum and we can all stay at my house. Shes gunna cook us some dinner too :)

The final balance must be paid by 21-Oct-2007, total remaining is £696.00 (116.00 each).

Now according to my maths we got a little extra few quid discount, but this doesn't include the £25.00 flight suppliment. But I will find out about where that gets paid.

As soon as they do cofirm the flight times we will need to get our Edinburgers>Heathrow, Gatwick>Edinburgers flights booked. Earlier = cheaper!

And I think thats about everything for now :D

Ive spoken to the glasgow skiing place.

First point is that they dont take deposits, they need the whole amount up front.

They only book 3 months in advance so oct not available just yet.

Ive looked at the pricing of it all a bit more carefully and we need to have a think about which one again.

For the following information remember that level 4 is pretty much 'you can ski', but the levels go further.

1 hour lesson (you should learn a level each lesson in this one, but might not in which case you have to do this one again) = £27.00 (4 lessons being £108.00)
3 hour fast track lesson (covers two levels each 3 hour session) = £72.00 (2 lessons being 144.00)
Learn to ski in a day - 8 hours (all levels) = £150.00

The problem with the first option being that you cant do the lessons back to back so theres traveling costs invovled and a lot of hassle going all the way to glasgow and back for only 1 hour.
The second one aims to get you to level 2, you get 3 hours so you should get to that level.
The last option covers everything and I think having 8 hours, there should be a good chance in everyone getting to a level where they can ski/board well enough.

And then there is the point of having skiing lessons on holiday with is around 100.00 until you learn.

I personally want to learn before hand and spend the actual holiday skiing instead of learning.

I think its between the second and third option but it all depends on peoples money situations. If people opt for different options we can always just go in different groups.

Anyway,

Post your thoughts. :)

Just got back from the pub.

Ayth and Leanne have pulled out as they have too many other financial comitments for other holidays at the moment. (Don't think your getting outta the next one guys! ;D )

So at the moment its:

Bob (deposit paid) - Snowboarding
Emo Scott - Snowboarding
Stu - Snowboarding
Gay Scott -(deposit on its way through the magic net banking!) - Can already ski so might try snowboarding to be a newbie with us :)
Trev (deposit paid) - Skiing
Myself (deposit paid) - Skiing

And maybe Guy and Rebecca (not confirmed yet)

So as soon as I have all the deposits in the account I will get it paid. (soon as poss please) :)

We also spoke about ski school stuff in glasgow snow dome ( http://www.xscape.co.uk/snow/braehead/whats-inside/snowslope/ )and decided on doing a 3 hour lesson on any saturday in October. I will give them a call and ask about it. The price for this will be £72.
It says that they aim to teach 1 level of skiing in an hour with level 4 being able to go down the slope yourself. So this lesson should get us quite near to where we want to be, depends how quick/slow we are at learning.

Got this from the Iglu Holiday people

-------------------------------------
Dear Michelle,

The Frontera Blanc apartments on the 13th of January
The apartments are currenlty avaialble at the price of £249 per person plus £25 flight supplement including retuirn travel from Gatwick to Toulouse and transfer
The property link is id number 24343

Please call me to book the deposit is £130 per person.

With kind regards,

Thomas Moulton

-------------------------------------

So its 130 quid deposit. Bob mentioned something about some extra discount he had through email from them so he can tell us about that.

yay :)

Ive emailed them back asking:

--------------------------------------------------

We actually have a group of 10 people now, so I was just wondering if we get any other discount due to the number of people?

And just to comfirm it will be £249.00 + £25.00 for travel from Gatwick to Toulouse and accomodation including transfer to accomodation. Also to confirm we will therefore need to arrange our own transport between Edinburgh and Gatwick?

Do we have to put any deposits down when arriving at the hotel, and do you know where I can find information on prices for:
Lift passes
Ski school
Ski equipment/snow boarding equipment hire.

Many Thanks in advance!,
Michelle.

----------------------------------------

I think we should get this booked soon, we should also book the glasgow snow dome fairly quickly as they said august onwards becomes very hard to book for groups as everyone swots up before going on hol! :)

:)

Hey Guys,

So just to confirm a few things, list of peeps that are coming?:

Blob
3mo
Myself
Trevz0r
Gay Scottius
Stoop
Guy - Unconfirmed?
Rebecca - Unconfirmed?

I was speaking to my dad and he said that instead of pre-booking ski school for us newbies, booking private lessons when we get out there are far better as you learn a million times faster. He said he learnt more in one day from a private instructer than a whole week at ski school (just because you all have to watch each other do stuff one by one and if some people are slow learning then everything takes yonks)

He said it works out around the same price anyway and is well worth it.

This brings me to another question, Who is skiing and who is snowboarding out of us newbies?

I myself am opting for skiing and I think trev will be the same.

My dad also said he can do all the oakley stuff at cost price, he said just go to the oakley webbie ( http://oakley.com/ ) give me a list of what you want and I will get you prices :)

Yay :)

P.S. Heres a link to the deal ( http://www.igluski.com/offer.cfm?oid=125091755 )

Finally created a LJ, it's just for posting to peoples accounts unless something major happens (which I very much doubt!)
